Matlock Software Development is a small studio based in Lenoir City, Tennessee. We build custom web applications, e-commerce platforms, and internal tools for businesses across East Tennessee and beyond.
We are deliberately small. Most projects involve the same developer from kickoff to deploy. No subcontractors, no offshoring, no surprises about who is actually writing your code.
Three principles.
A narrow stack, used deeply
Most agencies pick a different stack for every project — whatever is trending or whatever the client requested. We do the opposite. Every project we build runs on Next.js, Supabase, Stripe, Resend, and Vercel. Five years from now, we will still know exactly how your codebase works.
Project-based, not hourly
Hourly billing rewards slowness and punishes efficiency. We quote a fixed price for the project upfront, so you know exactly what you are paying before we start writing code.
Built to be maintained
Most software does not fail at launch — it fails 18 months later when nobody can figure out how to update it. Everything we ship is documented, tested where it counts, and built so the next developer (us, you, or someone else) can pick it up without a forensic investigation.
